Quick Health Tips Before Your Next Summer Party

fitness lifestyle nutrition Aug 11, 2021

Don’t let your next summer shindig ruin all the progress you’re making on your health and fitness journey!

Here are quick pro tips on how to celebrate with friends and family without the post-party guilt!

Tip #1

If you’re able to bring a dish to your party, make sure it’s a healthy one!

Sometimes we have no control over what food will be at our social gathering, so ensuring that you have at least one dish you can munch on without guilt is key! Assign yourself to be the friend bringing the fruit or veggie platter!

Tip #2:

Reduce or limit the amount of pre-made or high-sugar cocktails.

This is one of the biggest culprits of added calories and sugar that can be forgotten. Keep your alcoholic drinks simple, to a minimum, and alternate between an alcoholic drink and a glass of water.

Tip #3:

Get a workout in before.

You will feel better about digging into the pizza and chips if you know you got an awesome sweat session in before. It can help lessen the impact of eating the excess amount of calories over the weekend and help you feel uber confident walking in the room.

Tip #4:

Don’t try to starve before the party so you can “save your calories for later.”

This usually ends up backfiring. Depending on how HANGRY you get, you might eat way more than you would have if you just had a light meal beforehand.

Tip #5:

Don’t think you’ve ruined your progress after a weekend of splurging.

Remind yourself that it’s okay to splurge and enjoy the festivities. As long as you are committing to a healthy active lifestyle most of the time, you should be able to afford the weekend fun without shame, guilt, or fear.
