Golden Milk & Turmeric Smoothie Recipe (Anti-inflammatory & Gut Healing)

I recently have been implementing turmeric into my diet on a daily basis and believe that EVERYONE should be incorporating it into their diet. 

Turmeric is a powerful ingredient that:

  • is anti-inflammatory
  • stimulates your body's own antioxidant enzymes
  • boosts levels of the brain hormone BDNF, which increases the growth of new neurons and fights various degenerative processes in your brain.
  • improves the function of the endothelium and is a potent anti-inflammatory agent and antioxidant.
  • may help prevent and perhaps even treat cancer.
  • can cross the blood-brain barrier and has been shown to lead to various improvements in the pathological process of Alzheimer’s disease.

I started implementing Golden Milk into my daily regimen to help with some joint pain and overall inflammation in the body. Since adding it to my nightly routine, my joint pain is virtually gone and my body feels more agile and pain-free. In addition, overall inflammation has gone down and my digestion has improved tremendously. While I have been doing more things to reduce digestion discomfort than just adding turmeric, I do believe adding the powerful ingredient has helped a lot!

Here are 2 delicious recipes that you can try to get the amazing benefits of turmeric!

Turmeric Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup full-fat coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 scoop protein of choice
  • 5 drops liquid stevia
  • 5-6 ice cubes
  • 1/2 frozen avocado

Directions

Place all ingredients, except the ice cubes and avocado, in a high-speed blender. Pulse several times. Add the ice cubes and avocado and blend on high until smooth.

Golden Milk Tea

Ingredients

  • 1 cup nut milk (almond, coconut, or oat milk work fine)
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • sprinkle black pepper
  • 1 tbsp MCT oil (optional)

Directions

Heat nut milk on stovetop or microwave until hot but not boiling. Using a milk frother, froth the milk until it has froth on the top. Add in rest of ingredients. Froth the milk again to blend all ingredients. Sprinkle more cinnamon on top for the Insta. Enjoy!
