Quick Tips For A Healthy Vacay

Going on spring vacay soon? 

Me too! I’ll be heading to Riviera Maya in Mexico in just a few days so I thought it’d be helpful to give you some quick tips to keep your vacay healthy so that you don’t completely wreck your health and fitness goals.

1. Continue to follow the “80-20 rule” as much as possible. 

80% of the time eating real, whole, unprocessed foods and 20% of the time allowing for care-free indulgences. On vacation, it might look like 70-30 or 60-40, so allow for some flexibility and grace along the way.

2. Choose your vice wisely

Is there a famous cuisine or dish you absolutely HAVE to try at your destination? If you don’t have the cuisine that your vacay spot is known for, would you be missing out? If you said yes, then go ahead and enjoy it! But if there’s something at the hotel or restaurant that you know you can easily have back at home, maybe skip it since it’s not really special. 

3. Build in activity throughout the day

Book an excursion to go snorkeling, take a long beach walk as you enjoy the scenery, or dance it out at the club! Exercise doesn’t always have to involve going on a treadmill or lifting weights in a gym. Get out and move your body! 

I hope these quick tips are helpful! No matter how you spend your vacay, whether it’s an active or restful one, remember that ONE WEEK will not derail your goals altogether. Remind yourself of the bigger picture and enjoy yourself - you deserve it queen!
